ŽDB GROUP

This year, ŽDB GROUP a.s. reaches a significant round jubilee when it will celebrates the 125^th anniversary of its foundation in November.

This is because the Berlin businessmen Albert Hahn and Heinrich Eisner started up production of butt welded gas pipes already in 1885, while the appropriate production started after the hall building and mechanical equipment installation on 2 November 1885. Theenterprise foundation was contributed to by some important factors. A railway which meant a significant traffic node was situated in its vicinity. Several metallurgical companies such as the Třinec Ironworks or Vítkovice Ironworks, as well as the Ostrava-Karviná mine district with many bituminous coal mines, were situated nearby. The sufficient cheap labor available within the wide surrounding played its role, too. Therefore, the Company development could successfully continue.

A long Company history included successful, less successful, as well as crisis years. Due to the global economic crisis, also the last year was very difficult, and it can be briefly characterized as a “year of changes” for the Company. One of the principal changes was a change in the position of General Director, which was followed by other significant changes with regard to a new strategy and vision of the new General Director. The Company management took all necessary steps and measures due to which it succeeded to overcome the whole situation and recover the Company. It enters the year  2010, in which the Company celebrates already 125 years from its foundation, i.e. ŽDB GROUP, as an optimized, well prepared and stabilized Company.
